Sforza Castle is a castle full of medieval atmosphere, but at the same time, it is also very friendly because the surrounding park and large courtyard are open to the public.
Once you cross the bright and open courtyard and enter the castle, the atmosphere changes completely and you are filled with the heavy atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
The interior is quite complicated, and you can lose track of where you are walking from one part to the other, and although the various exhibits that appear one after another are not boring, they can be a little indigestible.
As for the important Leonardo's Asse Room, although it can't be helped that it was not open to the public 30 years ago when I visited, the situation has not improved much even though decades have passed since then. I have to say that this is very Italian.
This Asse Room was painted using the same technique as Leonardo used in The Last Supper. As a result, the painting layer has been severely damaged and restoration is difficult, which is probably why it has been delayed in being opened to the public.
In the end, the last hope is Michelangelo's "Pieta Rondanini."
Previously, the back of the Pieta was covered with a curved wall in the style of a modern sculpture, but it has now been improved to be displayed independently in the middle of the room so that the statue can be viewed from any direction.
The room in which it is displayed also has a nice atmosphere with the fresco decorations well preserved, and it is luxurious in that the Pieta takes over the room alone.
